The Pattern of Birds

June 5 – July 6, 2025 Michael Reid Southern Highlands, Berrima, NSW

I’m absolutely delighted to announce my upcoming mini exhibition, The Pattern of Birds, opening at Michael Reid Southern Highlands from June 5th to July 6th.

This body of work explores the beauty, rhythm and wild freedom of birdlife across regional Australia—a theme close to my heart. These birds are not just part of the landscape—they are symbols of resilience, and movement woven into the land’s story.

A centrepiece of the exhibition is my Desert Duet diptych, capturing two brolgas leaping and dancing in the open desert. These works are full of energy and movement, brought to life with layered patterns, expressive line work, and a sunburnt palette that speaks to the desert’s untamed elegance. I wanted to honour the ancient, ceremonial feel of the brolga dance, as if the land itself is singing beneath their feet.

It’s a real privilege to be exhibiting with Michael Reid, a gallery that champions contemporary artists and shares a deep appreciation for regional narratives. I’m so excited to be showing these works in such a beautiful part of the country.

If you’re in or around Berrima during the exhibition dates, I warmly invite you to drop in and experience the show. Michael Reid Southern Highlands is a stunning space—well worth the visit.

I can’t wait to share this new work with you!
